Overview
Title: Multiplied
Released May 6th 2026
Multiplied is the first single released by Luna Li since 2024. After the 2025 release of the reimagined ‘When A Thought Grows Wings’, the artist remained active on socials, but this is part of a potential new album cycle. At the time of writing, there has been no explicit confirmation of this. However, given the distinct art styles of each project, we can see this single has taken a turn from the last album.

‘Multiplied’ talks is a song about identity. The bittersweet journey of relationships. Luna embraces the reality that intentions shift, even if not through a conscious decision. A person’s outlook on life and their true desires can be enough to drive that wedge. Hence why the song has that bittersweet tone. Looking back at past relationships with people you loved and the positive memories you had, but knowing that, circumstantially, things had to change. One of the opening lines ‘But I look in through the window, when I’m feeling strong’, directly shows how even though things had to change, it isn’t easy embracing it. Another sentiment of the song is that sometimes it’s better to bite the bullet and make that decision than try and hope for the best outcome. Holding onto something doesn’t guarantee it will end any better, as Luna says in the song, ‘I couldn’t if I tried’.
Outside of the strong lyrical performance, the production doesn’t stray too far from her traditional palette. It feels a little more grounded, especially given the lyrical content. In comparison to ‘Duality’, it doesn’t have as much of a hazy, dream-like atmosphere. I think this works in her favour here, and makes a cohesive listen. We get some very interesting drum-work in the second half of the track, and details like this reduce the chance of fatigue when relistening. Classical instruments remain an influence on her work, pairing them with support from varying synth elements. Overall, the track delivers some of her strongest lyrical work, accompanied by fitting production that isn’t trying to take the spotlight.

Title: Nightdress
Released 30th of April 2026
Nightdress is a surprise single release from the duo as a goodbye before they move on to their new venture, ‘BugBear’. After over two years without an official release, this song serves as a significant moment in their final chapter. We aren’t sure if there will be any follow-ups after this release, but based on the wording of their promotion, it seems there may be more singles to come. They stated that they’re releasing the work that they recorded while the group was active, so we’ll have to wait and see if there are additional tracks.

The song begins with an unsettling composition that persists throughout. This sound is rich in atmosphere; the rugged guitar is key in setting the tone. Vocally, the lead singer, Daisy, opts for a gentle delivery that plays into the eerie landscape. As mentioned on their artist page, she sings with a strong accent here, even more so than in the past. I love this inclusion, and I find it to be a very refreshing detail. On this particular release, the vocals are frequently harmonised with who we assume is Ivo. This isn’t something that they’ve done throughout their career, but it is certainly a fantastic inclusion. Their delivery complements the lyrical content of the track, coming across as a plea of desperation. The use of sensory writing and vulnerable lines ties it together as one. The tension built through all of these inputs unite to create that thick atmosphere. Throughout the track, there are moments of their signature experimental style. The primary example of this is the sudden bass reverbs heard mostly in the D&B genre. Hearing this in a track alongside a minimalist piano or restrained drums is exactly why I appreciate Idlework.. They build a song in an unconventional way to provide a truly unique experience.
