The Two Lips is a band consisting of two members, Julz and Andrea. A bilingual band mixing Bedroom Pop, Dream Pop, Indie Rock, and Alt Rock. They often bring their cultural backgrounds into their music, which can be seen and heard throughout. Julz is Filipina, while Andrea is Mexican American. This makes their sound uniquely theirs, taking bits and pieces to make their own lane.

Their music has always had a strong emphasis on emotion, with lyrical content often centred around the experience of womanhood. Their popularity continues to grow as fans connect with their art. They are certainly an artist you can expect to pop up on your feed in the future. As of right now, they have only released one EP (girl c’mon) and a run of singles over a couple of years.

Dream Pop, Indie Pop, Bedroom Pop, Indie Rock, Psychedelic Pop, Latin Pop

After only releasing a string of singles through 2023 and 2024, their final release of 2024 (Still Love You) gained massive popularity. At the beginning of 2025, they were at around 50,000 monthly listeners. Fast forward to the current day, and they have broken the barrier of 1.5m. Following the initial success of this single, ‘girl c’mon’ was released in November 2025. Almost a year on from their breakout track, this record showed that they wanted to be more than they had shown previously. With a very active social presence, you can expect to see them continue on this trajectory.

It’s very difficult to list all the genres that are present in this project. Despite only having a runtime of 15 minutes and 3 seconds, they get the most out of the record. From boom bap sounding drums on ‘It’s Complicated’ to the punky chorus that follows on the same track, you can guarantee an unpredictable listen. The next track, ‘Enemy’, starts with another boom bap-style set of drums. By the time the chorus arrives, the song breaks out into a Dream Pop melody and production. These style switch-ups are sprinkled throughout the track list.

As much as their newer work has impressed me, what initially drew me into them was their early singles. Songs like ‘Favourite Apple’, ‘Joel’, and ‘SICK!’ were the hook for me. All these songs have a stripped-back production style but very different vibes. ‘Favourite Apple’ is more comparable to ‘Still Love You’, a melodic track that puts an emphasis on their delivery above all. An extremely smooth track, with a highlight being their flow. In the verses, they use the full room that the instrumental allows, and given that the track is a shorter one, this was essential to not waste any of the runtime. ‘SICK!’ is a more punky approach. That era of American teen Punk lives on in this track, with a more playful approach lyrically. Although it only has light Alt Rock themes, they translate the punk energy into Indie Pop quite well. This is the first time they showed this side of their artistry, which has been further explored in their EP. ‘Joel’ is almost a ballad, one of their most vulnerable tracks. Almost a polar opposite to ‘SICK!’, this track talks about the same topics from a much more emotional perspective. Light acoustic guitars and layered vocals from start to finish, the sincerity of the track is displayed through both the instrumental and the lyrics. These three songs are the ones that truly hooked me into their work, and are a great starting point for anyone else getting into their music

With so few songs released, we hope to hear more from them this year. As of right now, there have been two singles released in 2026, potentially gearing up for another EP or album. With their current tour going on, we know they are still very much active, along with frequent social media posts. Considering this, keep on the lookout for any new music!

Please remember there are additional tracks released by this artist. We encourage you to listen to any we haven’t included!
